Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect the information you share with us. This describes what the site actually does today - it will be updated as soon as it changes.
Who we are
This site is operated by HJK Construction (Northern) Limited, trading as Homespace Improvements (company number 09430009, registered office: Belmont House, 2 Dalton Court, Commercial Road, Darwen, Lancashire, BB3 0DG).
Information you give us
When you use the cost calculator, another tool, or the contact form, we collect what you enter: your name, phone number, email address, and details about your project - project type, goal, property type, postcode, size, timeframe, budget and any notes you add. We only use this to respond to your enquiry and to understand your project before we talk to you.
Progress you haven't submitted yet
If you start the cost calculator and give us your name, phone number or email address before finishing it, we save that partial progress so we can follow up if you don't complete it - for example if your connection drops or you close the tab partway through. This partial record is kept for 30 days after your last activity, after which it is deleted automatically if you haven't gone on to submit a full enquiry.
Information collected automatically
When you visit this site, we collect information about which campaign, search term or website referred you (including identifiers such as a Google Ads click ID), and the page you landed on. This helps us understand which of our marketing activity is working, and is linked to you if you go on to submit an enquiry. We also remember your cookie consent choice so you're not asked again on every visit. See our cookies page for more detail.
Spam and abuse prevention
We use standard automated safeguards, including Cloudflare, to prevent spam and abusive submissions through our enquiry form and to protect the site from malicious traffic. This information is used only to protect the site and is not used for any other purpose.
How we use your information
We use enquiry data to respond to you, discuss your project, and provide a quote if you'd like one. Where you've given consent, we use analytics and advertising data (see below) to understand which marketing channels are working, so we can spend our marketing budget sensibly rather than guessing. We do not use your enquiry details for any marketing purpose beyond your own enquiry without a separate, explicit opt-in.
Analytics and advertising
We use Google Tag Manager to run Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Ads on this site. Analytics and advertising cookies only run once you've given consent via the cookie banner - rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting, and your choice is applied before any tag loads. Where you've consented, we may also send Google a securely processed version of your contact details (such as your email address or phone number) alongside a conversion, so Google can match it to your ad click - this is known as "enhanced conversions" and never happens for a rejected consent choice. Who we share your information with
When you submit an enquiry or the cost calculator, it's sent to lab-forms, a third-party service we use to email us your enquiry and record it in our leads database so we can respond to you and track your enquiry through to completion. Where you've consented to analytics and advertising cookies, summary data about your visit and enquiry is also shared with Google as described above. We do not sell your information to any third party, ever.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and customer data for as long as necessary to handle your enquiry and deliver any project you go ahead with. Where your data forms part of a financial or contractual record, such as an invoice or signed contract, we keep it for 6 years to meet our legal and accounting obligations. If your enquiry doesn't lead to a project, we delete your details sooner, once we're satisfied there's no ongoing need to keep them. Partial calculator progress that's never followed by a submitted enquiry is deleted automatically after the limited period described above.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it if it's wrong, ask us to delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details on our contact page. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information you share with us, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and the spam and abuse protections described above. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take this seriously.
Children
This site and our services are directed at adults arranging building work on their own property. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page whenever what we actually do changes, rather than leave it describing something the site no longer does.
