How much does planning permission cost?

The current UK government fee for a householder planning application (for example, an extension) in England is £548, effective from 1 April 2026. This is the statutory application fee only — it doesn't include the cost of drawings, a planning consultant, or a party wall surveyor if one is needed. Always confirm the current fee on the Planning Portal before applying, as these fees are reviewed annually.
